As Seen in Evergreen Weddings
Madison & Eli’s engagement session is one of those that felt meaningful from the very start. They love playing tennis together back home in Tampa, so when they were visiting Maine for their venue tour and hair and makeup trial, we decided to lean into something that already felt like them. We photographed their engagement session right at their wedding venue, pairing a place tied to their future with an activity that’s long been part of their relationship.
I’ll always choose sentimental over staged. Incorporating something personal — especially an activity — adds depth to your images and turns your engagement session into an experience rather than a photoshoot.
This activity based engagement session was featured in Evergreen Weddings, which felt like the perfect home for a story rooted in intention, movement, and connection.

Why I Love Activity-Based Engagement Sessions
Activity-based engagement sessions are a favorite of mine for so many reasons. First, they immediately take the pressure off. When you’re doing something together, there’s no need to perform or worry about what to do with your hands — the moments unfold naturally.
Second, they create space for genuine interaction. Whether it’s movement, conversation, or shared focus, activities bring out the in-between moments that feel the most honest and timeless in your gallery.
If tennis isn’t your thing, there are endless ways to personalize your session:
- A sailboat ride or dockside stroll
- Morning coffee walks or bookstore browsing
- Hiking a favorite trail
- Playing cards, cooking together, or even a casual date night

Engagement Session Ideas in Maine & Arizona
Because I photograph weddings and sessions in multiple locations, I love helping couples choose activities that feel connected to place as well as personality.
In Bar Harbor, activity-based sessions often look like:
- Coastal walks along the Maine shoreline
- Grabbing a sailboat for golden hour with a bottle of your favorite champagne
- Exploring Acadia National Park together
In Scottsdale, Arizona try an engagement session with me at:
- Desert hikes at golden hour at Camelback Mountain for the adventure seekers
- A night together at The Beverly on Main toasting to your upcoming nuptials
- For the art lovers, a stroll through Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art
No matter the location, the goal is always the same: to create images that feel rooted in your life, not just pretty for the camera.
From Tennis Court Engagement Session to Maine Coast Wedding Day
From the tennis courts to the coast of Bar Harbor Club, Madison & Eli remained truly intentional throughout their entire wedding planning journey. Their love for one another, dedication to creating space for that love to flourish and the joy of getting to be married was overwhelming at every conversation. I feel beyond honored that I was able to capture these moments for them.
