My newborn sessions aren’t your typical posed and propped session that you mostly see on the internet. While I love seeing those photos so much, they are a whole different ball game when it comes to skill and studio space. So as a wedding photographer, when I am requested to take newborn photos, I typically come to your home for a lifestyle type of session! That could look like: lounging on the couch, cuddling on the bed, rocking the baby in the nursery, just your everyday type of things.
This session was extra special for me because the baby just so happened to be my nephew! As a first time auntie, and a photographer, I was of course getting in on this action. And now, almost a whole year later, we just did his first birthday photos (how?!) so I figured I should get this session on the blog. A year later and I am still so in love with these photos.. I know, I may be a little biased. You HAVE to see for yourself how precious his nursery is and his big (dog) brother Jesse, who couldn’t resist being in all of the photos too.

An out of the box branding session for a creative soul with many passions. Lauren invited me to her home to capture some life-style photos of her and the things she enjoys the most. The photos would be used for a variety of purposes, including her website where she offers intuitive coaching and tarot readings. Lauren has many hobbies and passions that we wanted to incorporate in these photos to help the her story. We started our session where she spends most of her time – in her writing room where she reads, writes, and meditates surrounded by books, plants, tie-dye tapestry, and her work space.
From there, we transitioned to her porch that is shaded by tall trees and overlooked a field with bright yellow goldenrods swaying in the breeze. We took some candid shots of how she would construct a tarot reading and a day of creative writing on the porch with her favorite coffee mug, followed by unwinding with a little yoga and meditation with her dogs. Next, we headed out to the farm where her and her husband grow free range chickens and cannabis! It was so much fun to switch things up from my typical sessions and take a peek into life on their farm, frolic through the fields, and capture some personality photos for this creative and compassionate lady.
So basically, I am here to tell you that your photos can be whatever you want them to be and they should 100% reflect who you are and what you are passionate about! Can you notice all of the creative and personal touches that we incorporated into these photos?

When a session ends, and the strangers I just met feel like my best friends, I am reminded of why I love this job so much. Being a photographer in a small, coastal town in Maine brings me new clients from all over the country while they vacation here on Mount Desert Island.
When Sean reached out to me inquiring about surprising his wife with a 20 year anniversary session on their celebratory vacation, I didn’t realize this wouldn’t be like my typical session. They requested to do their session at the Claremont Inn, in Southwest Harbor, as that was where they’d be spending the majority of their time, and they wanted their photos to truly reflect that. I met them at the hotel and I was immediately greeted with big smiles and their fun energy. They showed me all around the Claremont Inn property (that was just voted one of the best new hotels in the world by Leisure + Travel), I was immediately blown away with all of the photo opportunities that could be had around the hotel.
Sara and Sean were literally up for anything and they were such a blast to hang out with. We started the session by grabbing them a couple of their favorite cocktails at the bar so they could loosen up and be relaxed for our adventure together. From there, we walked down to the pier and they shared a short slow dance on the dock while the golden light lit up the bay behind them. Although there was a bit of a nip in the air, I couldn’t resist having them get cozy in the cutest green and white cabanas by the pool, just for fun. The fall decor that was tastefully sprinkled around the property was a lovely touch to really reflect their time there. After a quick outfit change, we took a couple of bikes for a stroll through the fall foliage. We ended the session on the lawn, where they sipped their cocktails in the Adirondack chairs and watched the final bit of sunlight glisten on the ocean.
Scroll through the photos to see all of the beauty that the Claremont Inn has to offer. If you’re visiting the MDI or Bar Harbor area, I highly recommend considering them for your stay…and don’t forget to plan your photo session with Emily Brianne Photography in advance 😉
Honestly it was our favorite part of the trip”

After postponing their wedding, Kaitlyn + Kendall didn’t want to wait an extra year to officially become husband and wife. With just their immediate family, and dog, they had a backyard minimony this June. They exchanged the realest vows I’ve ever heard – filled with humor, emotion, and so much love. The family home was tastefully decorated and filled with snacks, cake, and custom cookies for everyone to hang out and relax afterwards. It was a short and sweet day, and I am really looking forward to celebrating with them again next year for their big day!
Scroll through to check out some highlights from their small ceremony, and their adorable golden retriever!
“Emily was incredibly accommodating when my fiancé and I decided to postpone our big wedding during the height of COVID. We are so thankful she was able and willing to shoot our “mini-mony” this past weekend all the way in Waterville. Her work is absolutely stunning and we were so excited to see our sneak peeks the following day! Having done our engagement session with her last summer, we knew what to expect and felt very comfortable. She also managed photographing our families and dog with ease. We can’t thank her enough for her incredible work and are looking forward to working with her again.”

Samantha and Daniel showed up to their session looking like they were straight out of an Eddie Bauer magazine, and I absolutely loved it!! I am all about choosing clothes that feel like YOU. They have a yearly tradition of having anniversary photos taken, and this year they were visiting Bar Harbor to celebrate their anniversary doing lots of hiking, so the outfits fit the occasion…and it’s a good thing too – it was quite windy & chilly for these Texans!
I just love the adventurous vibes of this session, scroll through and check out our fun session.
“We knew we wanted pictures in beautiful Acadia, but weren’t sure exactly where since we weren’t familiar with the area. Emily offered suggestions based on what scenery we were looking for in the photos and even gave some outfit tips (my husband and I actually changed outfits at the last minute due to windy/cold weather that we hadn’t quite anticipated). She did a great job before the shoot of trying to get a feel for our style, which I think really helped us feel comfortable during our shoot.
When we finally got to meet her the day of the shoot, she was friendly and provided great direction (especially to two awkward people who never quite know how to pose in photos). She made sure to ask our input about ideas/suggestions throughout the shoot, but honestly she was confident enough that we trusted her to make many of the calls (and we’re glad we did!).
The final photos were GORGEOUS. Overall we had a great experience with Emily and would highly recommend her to capture your special moments!”

Emily and Kameron went through a lot to get to this day, but it was still absolutely beautiful nonetheless. Their summer wedding took place at a new venue in Birch Harbor, Maine called Oceanwood Wedding and Event Barn. Their ceremony took place nearby the barn alongside a small pond. Kameron and his stepdad hand built all of the wooden benches and arbor for the ceremony. Emily and her dad walked down the aisle to a song that was sung by a close high school friend that recently passed away. I don’t think there was a dry eye around.
After they shared their first dance and emotional speeches, we snuck away from the reception for golden hour photos on the rocky coast. They stepped away from the craziness of the day, embraced each other, and reflected on how they got to where they were.
At the end of those portraits, I asked if they would be up for trying something new. When they said “sure!”, I handed them my camera and told them to take a few portraits of each other… I set the settings, told them where to aim and which button to press – the rest was up to them. At first they were a little unsure of what to do and said “this is hard” but then they started coming up with a couple of their own poses and the results were PRICELESS.
Scroll to the end to see the individual photos they captured of each other and the personality that just shines through.

Hanging flowers, bright spring colors, a baby GOAT, naturally lit open space, and a gorgeous model… As you can imagine, it was a difficult task to narrow down my favorite images! I just love everything about this spring brunch styled shoot – we included citrus fruits, goat cheese, a waffle cake, and even Pantone’s color of the year! My inspiration for this was bright, clean, crisp – I wanted hanging flowers and a baby goat. It’s safe to say my expectations were exceeded, thanks to an amazing team of vendors!

I low-key squealed with excitement when I saw the Zimmerman family show up in these outfits. So many cute little details and accessories, yet still coordinating so perfectly!!! The weather, however, was not so perfect. There were off and on rain showers throughout the day, but this was the only day that our schedules lined up while they were vacationing in Bar Harbor. So, we waited out the rain a bit, and snuck in some INCREDIBLE family portraits in between rain showers. And it was soooo worth it. The fog and hazy sky made for some super cool photos on the rocky shoreline in Acadia National Park. This fam absolutely killed this session – check out their adorable outfits…oh, and the Bar Harbor Whale Watch boat appeared at just the right time to get in the back of a photo.

They had to ditch their big wedding plans due to the pandemic, but that didn’t stop them from celebrating their love! Carlen and Mike didn’t want to deal with the hassle of rescheduling their wedding so they invited their immediate family to join them as they said “I do” in their favorite spot – Boothbay, Maine.
They rented a house on the water in Midcoast Maine that had the perfect spot for setting up a ceremony, watching the sunset on the water, and having a family style dinner on the porch. All of the details and the little touches of Maine, tied together perfectly for this heartfelt summer micro-wedding!
